Happy Holidays! What a gift we have to discuss today…..
I wanted to invite all of you to attend a wonderful event along CTH M in the Town of Westport: The dedication of the Towell Family Habitat Area. Please meet at the parking area for 5407 CTY HWY M, affectionately still called the White House property in honor of the old supper club which is no longer with us, and recently home to Camp Beef Butter BBQ. The attached could be used as a press release for the details of the transaction and for what the property will be used, and maps and signage are located here as well. We welcome all to come thank Bill Towell and his family for this most generous donation, and to the DNR staff and officials who worked so hard to gain acceptance by the DNR Board. If you wish to speak at the event, please let me know and I will pass it on to the organizers (no more than a couple of minutes please). If you could congregate by about 1:00 pm we can start on time at 1:15. Dress warm!!!
I am hoping you will share this email, pass on to those you think I might have missed (so sorry about that), or do a press story from the attached information. This donation not only will assist DNR fisheries in keeping the Yahara River Chain stocked and fish healthy, but will assist in stormwater retention and flood prevention. This 40 acres is part of an important wetland on the north side of Lake Mendota along CTH M in Westport’s Town Center, and there cannot be enough thanks given to the Towell family for DONATING this land for the protection of all of us and our lakes.
So, thank you Bill and the rest of the Towell family, and thanks to the DNR for the work to protect this wonderful property. What a wonderful gift to all of us this holiday season….happy New Year!
